Intro to Ecology Hike, February 17th, 1:00 p.m.
February 17, 2018 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM| Free
Conditions permitting (watch Facebook and bairdcreek.org)…attend the “Intro to Ecology” hike February 17th at the Baird Creek Greenway. The hike will be held at 1:00 p.m. starting at Christa McAuliffe Park, and will be led by Charlie Frisk, BCPF President and retired environmental science teacher.
What better place than the Baird Creek Greenway to pick up a little Ecology 101. Baird Creek has over 400 plant species and 18 distinctly different biological communities. Learn how the different topography and north vs south facing slopes combine to produce this ecological diversity. On the hike we will walk through at least 5 of these distinct communities.
The hike will last about 2 hours. No pre-registration is required, but if you are bringing a large group please leave a message at the Baird Creek office at 328-3505. Be sure to dress for the weather…kids and grown-ups welcome, and be prepared to encounter a few hills and unpaved trails.
The Baird Creek Preservation Foundation hosts free guided hikes through the Baird Creek Greenway that are open to the public. The hikes are led by experts in the related area and are a great way to learn, have a little fun and enjoy the outdoors.
