What is Orienteering?

Orienteering is a group of sports that require navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain whilst moving at a fast pace with the goal of completing the course with the lowest elapsed time. Baird Creek is happy to announce the addition of an orienteering course on the trails by Christa McAuliffe Park!

What Do I Need to Participate?

  1. Compass
  2. The course map above (either printed out or downloaded for phone use)
  3. Phone or tablet to access map & scan QR codes
  4. Appropriate clothing & shoes for hiking through the woods
  5. Water
  6. Bug spray

How Do I Use the Course?

Step 1:

Download the iorienteering app through your app store

Step 2:

Go to the start of the course behind Christa McAuliffe Park (3100 Sitka St, Green Bay, WI 54311)

Step 3:

Open the iorienteering app & click on “Load Event” at the top of the screen

Step 4:

Either scan the setup QR code by aiming your phone camera at the QR code or enter the shortcode (both found on the start sign on the course) to load the map onto your phone.

Step 5:

Click on “scan start code” & aim your phone camera at the QR code to begin the timer & the course.
